Petzl ASAP® LOCK

An essential component in your fall protection system, rely on the ASAP LOCK for everyday rope access applications. During normal use when moving along the rope, the device trails freely without the need for manual operation. In the event of a fall or uncontrolled descent (exceeding two meters per second), the device blocks the rope and stops the user.

The integrated LOCK function allows the user to immobilize the device in order to reduce potential fall distance. The connection arm makes the system drop-resistant, so passing intermediate anchors is easier, and the safety catches simplify installation on the rope. In rescue scenarios, the ASAP LOCK must be used with the ASAP'SORBER AXESS energy absorber.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between the Petzl ASAP LOCK and the standard Petzl ASAP?
The ASAP LOCK adds an integrated LOCK function to immobilize the device and a connection arm that makes the system drop-resistant when passing intermediate anchors. It's also heavier (335g versus 190g) and built for professional rope access rather than general work at height.
What does the LOCK function on the Petzl ASAP LOCK actually do?
It lets you immobilize the device to reduce potential fall distance, and it also keeps the rope from being blown upwards in windy conditions, which matters most on exposed outdoor sites.
Do I need a specific energy absorber for rescue scenarios with the Petzl ASAP LOCK?
Yes. For rescue scenarios, the ASAP LOCK must be used with the ASAP'SORBER AXESS energy absorber, rated for two-person rescue up to 250kg. For standard single-person use up to 140kg, the ASAP'SORBER 20 or 40 can be used instead.
What are the safety catches on the Petzl ASAP LOCK for?
They make it easy to install and remove the device at any point on the rope, letting you reposition securely without risk of accidentally losing the device.
